IP Addresses

Colostore will allocate 5 usable IP address per collocation or dedicated server, these IP address can then be assigned to your server for use of you applications. The IP address assignment is usually on a private vlan with 8 IP addresses (cidr /29), due to the sub-netting process two IP addresses are lost due to IP boundary assignments. The gateway will also use up one IP address which allows you server to assign a default route to the Internet, which leaves a total of 5 IP addresses left in the subnet. In the event you need additional IP addresses we will assign additional blocks of 5 IP addresses to your port using the same method, also larger blocks can be assigned in groups of 5, 13, 29, 61, 125 and 253 IP addresses.

Once you have been assigned IP addresses we would ask that you go through the online control panel and set the reverse DNS for the IP addresses you are using, this helps us in justifying our IP address space to the American Registry of Internet Numbers (ARIN). It will also help in resolving issues sending email and IP address resolution.

In the event you have a router or firewall that you would like to place on a network we can also route IP addresses to your device instead of supplying a gateway, in this case we will assign one IP address to our side and one to your side and we will then route a block of IP addresses to your device which will be the gateway for your network.
